The second matchup of Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley was much anticipated. The WBO welter weight championship fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas was billed as Pacquiao’s attempt at salvation and Bradley’s opportunity to join the elite class of fighters. Fans were not disappointed.

Pacquiao was coming off one of the least impressive victories in his career after his victory over Brandon Rios. Also, Pacquiao was still smarting from losing a split decision to Bradley in 2012. This gave the newly religious Pacquiao even more to pray for before his fight.

His prayers were answered. Pacquiao dominated the fight from the first round. He threw 563 punches and landed 35 percent of them while Bradley landed only 22 percent of his punches. It seemed that Bradley’s strategy was to throw as many punches as possible to overwhelm Pacquiao, but the approach didn’t work.

Bradley appeared wild and didn’t connect when he needed to land a solid shot. When it came to power punches and jabs, Pacquiao was much more efficient in landing his punches and making them count.

In the end, Pacquiao was too much for Bradley. All the judges gave the
fight to Pacquiao. Judges Craig Metcalfe and Michael Pernick scored the rematch 116-112 for Pacquiao with Glenn Trowbridge scoring it 118-110.

After the fight, Pacquiao thanked God and also gave credit to his opponent. “He threw a lot of punches,” Pacquiao (56-5-2) told the Washington Post in a post-fight interview. “I didn’t want to get careless. I picked up more steam in the second half when I made adjustments that Freddie gave me in the corner. Bradley was much better than in the first fight we had. He hurt me on the chin.”

Now both fighters face new futures. Pacquiao looks to continue his comeback, while Bradley must now regroup and find another way to get back to the elite level of fighters.

Pacquiao vs. Bradley—Pacquiao consigue revancha
